Billy "Curly" McFalls, a cherished soul who embodied warmth, kindness, and an independent spirit, passed away peacefully on September 30, 2024, in Bastrop, Texas. Born February 6, 1953, in Kaufman, Texas, Curly was a vibrant character, a “Man’s man” with the heart of a child, who left a lasting imprint on all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Dedicating more than 30 years as a maintenance supervisor at various apartment buildings, Curly became a strong figure in his community and was known for his unwavering willingness to lend a helping hand. His friends and neighbors fondly admired him, often speaking about his thoughtful opinions with a demeanor that never changed between compassion and candor.
Curly was immensely proud of his family; a strong bond he cherished with his wife, Joni Brier. Together, they found joy in spending time with family, taking adventures, and making memories that will forever echo in the hearts of those who loved him. He was not just a father but a guiding compass to his two daughters, Nicole Hale and Kacy Shafer (Michael). His love extended to his mother, Joyce Copeland McFalls, a woman whose strength undoubtedly helped form Curly’s kind spirit. He found happiness in the laughter and love of his grandchildren—Jackson Shafer, Courtlyn Hale, Brooklyn Hale, and Colt Hale—who brought infinite joy into his life and the light in his eyes when surrounded by their innocent energy.
In his free time, Curly’s passions roared to life on the open road atop his beloved Harley, a motorcycle that symbolized his adventurous spirit. The wind in his hair, the thrill and solitude of the ride—this was where Curly felt most alive, embodying the essence of freedom and exhilaration.
Curly’s legacy is one of connection, affection, and friendship, enriched by the countless lives he encountered. He had an extraordinary ability to illuminate a room with his gentle smile and infectious laughter. His kindness knew no bounds; he was willing to help in any way he could find, a testament to the kind soul he was. Even though he offered his views freely, those opinions were always delivered with compassion and grace (usually), leaving those around him feeling respected and valued.
He is preceded in death by his father, George William McFalls, whose memory will be honored through the stories and lessons Curly carried with him throughout his life.
Friends and family are invited to gather and share their memories at the Anderson - Clayton Funeral Home in Kaufman, Texas. A visitation is being held on Friday, October 4, 2024, from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, followed by a Celebration of Life from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM, as those who loved him come together to share their stories and pay tribute to the remarkable man he was.
As we remember Curly, let us carry forward his spirit of kindness, his passion for adventure, and the love he so freely offered—keeping his memory alive in our hearts and our actions every day.
