Jimmy Joe Abbott, age 83, of Seagoville, Texas, passed away on Friday, October 1, 2021. Jimmy was born on June 20, 1938 in Athens, Texas to Wilson and Bessie Abbott.
Jimmy is preceded in death by his loving wife of 62 plus years, Sally Joyce Abbott; son, Ronnie Wayne Abbott; parents, Wilson Eugene Abbott and Bessie Bee Abbott; 3 brothers: Billy Abbott, James Ray Abbott and Bobby Dunn Abbott; 3 sisters: Mildred Brooks, Grace Stiles and Tommie Azbill; son in law, Rodney Leach and great granddaughter Kennedy Leach.
Jimmy was a simple man who worked hard his entire life. He was the sole provider for his family and there was never a time when he failed to do just that. He loved to be outdoors whether it be on the lake fishing, sitting on the porch or outside tinkering with his tools in his shed. After countless years of working he retired and got to enjoy the beauty of life outside of work. He had a true heart of gold and later in life became the best caretaker for his wife Sally. Although he could be hard of hearing sometimes, he sure loved to spend time talking with his family and just reminiscing about everyday life. The family will sure miss them both at every holiday gathering.
Those left to cherish his memory and carry on his legacy are his son, Donnie Abbott and wife Starla; daughter Deborah Leach; sisters: Imagene House, Patsy Drinning, Johnnie Valero, Christine Brown and Shirley Pearson; 10 grandchildren: Chris Leach and wife Janet, Brandon Leach and wife Kourtni, Amanda Arnold and husband Billy, Dustin Abbott, Chad Abbott and wife Amanda, Brittney Burris, Ronnie Joe Abbott, Tyler Abbott, Hannah Abbott and Emma Abbott; 11 great grandchildren: Megan, Devon, Luke, Cooper, Collin, Makayla, Parker, Cooper, Logan, Clayton and Colton; 2 great great grandchildren Cashton and Cannon along with other beloved family and friends who will miss him dearly.
A visitation will be held at 10:00 am, Thursday, October 7, 2021 at Anderson Clayton funeral home in Kaufman, Texas where the celebration of life will immediately follow at 11:00 am.
