Mary Louise Absher

Mary Louise Absher, 86, of Kaufman, TX. went to be with the Lord on March 31, 2024.  Mary was born on April 3, 1937, to Fred and Hope Robinson in Blount County, TN.

Mary went by “Mary Lee”. She was named after her maternal grandmother and great aunt on her mother’s side.  The “Lee” she used is the shortening for, Levator, her grandfather.  Mary moved to Texas as a young girl and graduated from Birdville High School.  She went with a bachelor’s from North Texas University and moved to Xavier University in New Orleans, where she earned her master’s degree.

Mary enjoyed her time in Louisiana and cherished the time she had there. She started and finished her teaching career in the Birdville ISD where she taught second graders for 30 years before she retired.  Mary spent time cooking and sewing.  Her most precious time was spent with her grandkids; whether she was teaching them how to sew, following them around to their many school events or taking them somewhere herself.

Mary was a former member of the Kaufman Sewing Guild, United Methodist Women and Kaufman County Alzheimer’s Support Group.  She would serve her church faithfully and visit shut ins.  Mary was a beloved Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Sibling and Aunt.

Her parents, Fred and Hope, husband Fred Absher, and grandchildren: Nathan Bartlett and Jada Bartlett preceded her in death. Those left to cherish her memory are daughters: Judy Bartlett and Linda Raymond; grandchildren: Lauren Raymond and partner Lonnie, Daniel Raymond, Bethany Thomas and husband Alan, Matthew Pizana and wife DeeAnn, Greg Bartlett and wife Kristen, Emily Bartlett, Leah Bartlett and husband Keith, Noah Bartlett and wife Cheyanne, Brandon Bartlett, Lisa Miles, Jason Jones, Kaiden Wilson, Genevieve Wilson, Giavanni Wilson, and numerous foster grandchildren; great grandchildren: Vynn, Jacob, Hope, Tyler, Layla, Kaydin, Tres, Aubrey, Asher, Lexi, Kloe and Reagan; siblings: JoAnn Holson, George Robinson, Glenn Robinson and wife Jan and Truett Absher and wife Janette; Mike Pizana long time caregiver and friend, numerous extended family and friends who will miss her dearly.
